When La Raza Centro Legal’s Senior Law Program Coordinator, Carlos Osorio first visited  Esperanza, a disabled monolingual Spanish-speaking senior citizen of San Francisco, he could never have imagined the atrocious retaliations that had taken place at the hands of Esperanza’s landlord. But that is exactly what happened. After intense and lengthy negotiations, Carlos was able to secure $75,000 for relocation expenses, no rent for 5 months, and a lease extension totaling 9 months.
Since Esperanza’s case, we have expanded our services to the  greater San Francisco community, and were thrilled to be able to hire a Housing Law Program Attorney in response to the immense need around the city. In less than one month, our new Housing Law Attorney has provided consultation to over 15 clients and is currently representing six of them. No one has been turned away and we continue our fight for Justice, Dignity, and Equality for the low-income and most vulnerable communities of San Francisco.
As always, we could not have done this alone. Your support has helped us tremendously to continue addressing these and other serious issues facing our community.  As the year comes to an end, we ask you to please consider making a year-end gift to ensure that citizens like Esperanza can advocate for their civil and human rights through quality legal representation.
Remember, your gift can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
