Fighting for Justice Since 1973

Advocacy

La Raza Centro Legal was born from the civil rights movement when Chicana/o students founded the organization in the Mission District. This was a special time and place where art, culture, and activism were forged to create dynamic social change.

We are still here in the Mission District working to protect and advance the rights of our community. We engage in advocacy work to address the issues threatening our community members and promote grassroots community-led civic engagement. We center the most impacted community members and believe that the most impacted among us, have the best solutions. Our work is inherently intersectional and we are committed to our relationships with other communities threatened by civil and human rights abuses and gentrification.

We do not tolerate gender violence, racism, homophobia, hate speech, anti-immigrant attacks, or any other harmful conduct in our community.

We believe that Black Lives Matter, Indigenization and Rematriation, No one is Illegal on Stolen Lands, Women's rights are human rights, we are all differently-abled, and LGBTQTS+ relatives are sacred.
